PHARR — The Pharr Press caught up with PSJA High Varsity Volleyball Junior, Ave Dominguez, and here is what she had to say about looking forward to this year’s season and about herself.
Q: What’s your team goal for this season?
A: As a team to bond, we have the talent we just have to put everything together and we can win games with that. To improve little at a time, work together and back each other up. Most of all, to win our 4th District Championship time in a row.
Q: What’s your best memory as a PSJA High volleyball player?
A: Team breakfasts during our first week of tryouts this year was a fun team building experience.
Q: What are your personal goals for this season?
A: Push through mental blocks, and learn to not hit them. Sharpening my skill to play more defense and to be a well rounded player.
Q: Describe how you started getting into volleyball?
A: I have always been around the sport since a very young age. My mom got me into it and my sister and I have always loved playing volleyball with her.
Q: What specific skills do you focus on during your training sessions?
A: Defense. Pushing the ball out to our hot handed hitters.
Q: Who is your biggest supporter in your volleyball journey, and how have they inspired you?
A: My mom, she has always been my biggest supporter throughout everything in life. She has pushed me to train and get better at everything. She gives me all the opportunities she can.
Q: What is your favorite part about being a student-athlete?
A: Learning that I can do a lot and juggle a lot at a time. Teaches me to have better time management.
Q: What is one thing you love most about your hometown?
A: My friends
